2021. An important year for our company draws to a close.
A year filled with projects, achievements and events. A year in which business has resumed.
First of all, we officially became part of SOMEC group, a process that began in 2020.
SOMEC is a group of companies specialising in the engineering, design and implementation of turnkey construction projects in the naval and civil sectors, in three segments: engineered systems for naval architecture and building façades; professional kitchen systems and products; and the design and creation of custom interiors.
With SOMEC, we have been working on complete projects, as always driven by the values we share with all the companies in the group: efficiency, reliability, performance, sustainability and Made in Italy.
We also worked on a number of major complex projects to which we applied our distinctive know-how:
• the project for the kitchen of Villa Terzaghi, a teaching restaurant and cookery school on the outskirts of Milan, run by the non-profit organisation Associazione Maestro Martino, of which Carlo Cracco is a founding member and president;
• the kitchen for the opening of Chef Carlo Cracco’s new restaurant in Portofino, an ambitious, fully customised project consisting of a monobloc kitchen that has been meticulously designed down to the smallest detail to optimally use the available space;
• the modular open-plan kitchen designed for the Frangente restaurant in Milan, the new project by Chef Federico Sisti, which combines an aesthetically appealing, state-of-the-art restaurant with a functional and safe technological system that is meant to optimise consumption in a sustainable way.
But, as we said, 2021 was also a year of recovery for our industry. At last, in-person events are being held again and we, at GICO, have decided to share our news with you during two major international events.
Since 1st October, we have been the Silver Sponsor of the Italian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. The most important event in the world, which was postponed last year for obvious reasons, will be celebrating the uniqueness and authenticity of Made in Italy, with the motto <<Beauty unites people>>. Supported by SOMEC Group for the logistics part, GICO designed a complete kitchen project for the Italian pavilion.
Moreover, at the end of October 2021, we had the pleasure of welcoming visitors from all over the world to our stand at the 42nd edition of HOST Milano, the world-leading exhibition dedicated to the catering and hospitality sector, which took place from 22nd to 26th October at the Fiera di Milano. In addition to specifiers, architects, designers and catering industry entrepreneurs, Chef Carlo Cracco came to see us. We seized this opportunity to interview him.
During the HOST Milano exhibition, we presented our new H+ modular line to the general public. A line that combines total freedom of composition with excellent cooking performance. With a solid and resistant structure, H+ is all about technological innovation and design while ensuring a wide range of aesthetic and colour customisation options.
A great start to the celebrations for our first 50th anniversary. During the last half century, we have followed and anticipated trends in the catering industry. We have shared this story with you step by step on our blog.
