The annual presentation of the Gambero Rosso Guide to Italy’s Best Restaurants (Guida Ristoranti d’Italia) is one of the most important events on the Italian wine and food scene.
Streamed live this year to observe the current health regulations, the event kept thousands of restaurateurs, chefs and foodies glued to their screens as they waited for the 2021 awards and recognitions to be revealed.
The ‘forks’ and ‘shrimps’ system that classifies the best restaurants and trattorias according to the Guida Ristoranti d’Italia also included special awards dedicated to chefs.
Peter Brunel, a friend of GICO and a highly talented chef, was awarded the coveted prize ‘Novità dell’Anno 2021’ (Newcomer of the Year 2021). The award is the result of the true commitment, determination and skill of a chef who at his eponymous Ristorante Gourmet at Arco, Trento brings to life creative cuisine firmly rooted in the surrounding territory – the Dolomites.
Sustainable, artistically inspired cuisine described by the chef in a wonderful interview, which we were fortunate enough to enjoy during the Hospitality 2020 event held last January at Riva del Garda. Here chef Brunel starred in a special cookery show, where he used our Monobloc kitchen suite, which he has also chosen for his restaurant at Arco, Trento.
This is an important time for the Italian wine and food industry. The days are marked by the release of the most important trade guides, including ‘La Rossa’ – the 2021 Michelin Guide, which we talked about recently. Our congratulations go to chef Brunel for his ‘Newcomer of the Year’ award from Gambero Rosso, and for his first Michelin Star.
